AREDS Study for Macular Degeneration

The AREDS Study (Age Related Eye Disease Study) was a major clinical study sponsored by The National Eye Institute.  The study was performed to research the affects of high doses of antioxidants and zinc as related to the progression of macular degeneration.

The study concluded that high levels of specific antioxidants and zinc can help slow the progression of this debilitating eye disease.  The study found that these ingredients can be taken on a daily basis in the form of an eye vitamin supplement containing all the necessary ingredients shown to be effective in this large clinical study.

In May of 2013 the National Eye Institute reported the results of their follow up study called AREDS 2. AREDS 2 researched lutein, zeaxanthin, and omega-3’s. They discovered a better formula than the original AREDS by removing beta-carotene and adding lutein and zeaxanthin. The new “AREDS 2” recommendation is a vitamin supplement containing vitamin c, vitamin e, zinc, copper, lutein, and zeaxanthin.

Preserve Mac Forte contains all 6 of these items, plus a proprietary blend of additional herbs and antioxidants for a total of 27 high quality ingredients to support ocular health and full body wellness.
